Peacebuilding & Social Cohesion

Healing Communities, Restoring Hope

As part of its mandate to contribute to a peaceful South Sudan, AWA AFRICA actively engages communities in conflict resolution and peacebuilding processes. We believe that genuine peace begins at the grassroots—when communities are empowered to lead healing, dialogue, and reconciliation from within.

Our Peacebuilding and Social Cohesion Program fosters inclusive, community-led efforts to address the root causes of conflict, promote healing, and rebuild trust among diverse groups affected by years of violence and displacement.

Our Key Activities

Facilitation of Grassroots Peace Dialogues
We bring together youth, women, elders, and traditional leaders in safe, inclusive spaces to discuss grievances, share perspectives, and develop local solutions. These dialogues help prevent conflict and promote long-term coexistence.

Trauma Healing & Reconciliation Workshops
Recognizing the deep emotional toll of conflict, we conduct healing sessions to support individuals and groups in their journey toward recovery, forgiveness, and renewed relationships within their communities.

Youth Engagement in Peacebuilding Initiatives
We train and support young people as peace ambassadors through civic education, leadership training, and creative peace campaigns. Youth are encouraged to take active roles in shaping peaceful futures for their communities.

Promotion of Inter-communal Cooperation
Through cultural exchanges, joint community activities, and peace committees, we foster understanding and collaboration across ethnic and regional divides—laying the groundwork for shared identity and mutual respect.

Our Vision for Peace

A South Sudan where communities choose dialogue over division, healing over hatred, and unity over fear. A future where every generation leads with compassion, courage, and a commitment to lasting peace.
